Jonathan Bonny (he/they) is a composer and multi-instrumentalist. Trained as a classical percussionist at the conservatories of Ghent, Helsinki, and The Hague, Jonathan now thrives in the interdisciplinary performing arts, where their love for pop and electronic (club) music finds expression. As a composer, Jonathan, driven by (queer) activism, weaves compositions influenced by classical music tradition, pop, and electronic music. Jonathan aims for a socially more just world by primarily amplifying the voices of the marginalized in their work.

Since 2021, Jonathan has been evolving as an independent maker under the alter ego JÓRMA, supported by the Dutch artist program Station Noord. JÓRMA aims to connect and create safe(r) spaces where everyone belongs. In JÓRMA's gatherings, original compositions by Jonathan are performed in interdisciplinary theatrical forms. Alongside their work as a composer and performer, Jonathan has recently started teaching composition at the Utrecht School of the Arts in the Music & Technology department.

Jonathan has played with ensembles such as Slagwerk Den Haag, AskolSchönberg, Blindman[Drums], Ensemble KLANG, Club Guy&Roni, the Flemish Opera, Orkater, and the Dutch National Opera. Compositions by Jonathan have been performed by the Spectra Ensemble, Diamanda La Berge Dramm, Lunapark, Casco Phil, the Royal Music Chapel of the Navy, and DeCompagnie. They have composed music for productions by Silbersee, Theater Sonnevanck, Boost Producties, PeerGroup, Teddy's Last Ride, MoON Productions, Nic Bruckman, Kiros/Loliva, The Midnight Specials, and the VPRO podcast Lopendebandwerk.
