Diederik Glorieux does not shy away from adventure. In his productions, he brings together young people and amateur or crip artists with specialist musicians or ensembles. As a performing musician, conductor and composer, he allows the roles of creative and performing artist to blend as far as possible, and he breaks through the hierarchy between the musicians. Diederik Glorieux’ compositions are always an attempt to understand the world and take various forms: sound explosions, tranquil works and playful, unpretentious, whimsical musical works. In his sound performances, he plays on the tension between clear rules of engagement and free improvisation. The free sounds in the performances stimulate communication, both between the musicians, and between the musicians and the audience.

Between 2005 and 2022, Diederik Glorieux was the musical assistant of composer Wim Henderickx. He was closely involved in the creation of various works and productions, and has created a range of works including  Antifoon, Colors and Visioni ed Estasi. Together with the family and a range of partners in the cultural field, he is currently focusing his attention on inventorying, preserving and protecting Wim Henderickx’ legacy. As of September 2023, Diederik Glorieux has been working as a research assistant at the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp. As part of the research group labo XIX&XX, he is working on the project Infinizio, the graphic score as a tool in the performance of music by Wim Henderickx. At the behest of the HERMESensemble, Diederik Glorieux is lead researcher in the Wim Henderickx Legacy project from October 2023 to September 2024. This project is partly supported by the heritage library of the Royal Conservatoire Antwerp, the research group Labo XIX&XX from the same conservatoire, Cemper v.z.w. and Huniyāgar v.z.w.

For more than two decades, Diederik Glorieux was Wim Henderickx’ right hand during the MUSICA composition internship SOUNDMINE. During this internship, composer, tutor and inspirer Wim Henderickx guided hundreds of young composers from all four corners of the globe. Together with Jorrit Tamminga, Diederik Glorieux is continuing the internship and thus keeping Wim Henderickx’ didactic insights and mission alive. As a tutor in musical history, musical theory and composition, he is linked to the academies of Harelbeke (H.A.P!) and Ypres (Dé Academie).

In 2019, Diederik Glorieux set up the non-profit organisation Huniyāgar, together with Hannes Vanlancker. An organisation dedicated to music creation and music engraving.
