Berlinde Deman (b. 1982) is Flat Earth Society Orchestra’s tuba player, and has also appeared in numerous bands and projects from the jazz, theatre and classical world. You can/could see her at work with Dave Douglas, Ab Baars trio, Jef Neve, Spinvis, Dez Mona, Dick van der Harst, ChampdAction, Spectra, Vvolk, MikMáäk and Post Uit Hessdalen, among others.

She has undertaken residencies in Sweden, Luxembourg, the Netherlands and Belgium.

After years of fascination with the tuba’s ancestor, she has now acquired a serpent. This rare 16th century instrument’s unique, melancholy sound has led her to collaborate with names including Graindelavoix, Hans Beckers, B.O.X, Razen, Machinefabriek, Jon Doe One, and Mirko Banovic.
