Benjamin Vandewalle is a Belgian choreographer and dancer, known for his innovative and interdisciplinary approach to dance and performance art. He studied at the Royal Ballet School Antwerp, and later graduated from P.A.R.T.S. (Performing Arts Research and Training Studios) in Brussels, an influential contemporary dance school founded by choreographer Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker.

Vandewalle’s work often explores the relationship between the audience and the performer, challenging conventional perspectives and involving spectators in unique ways. His projects often contain elements of visual art, technology and architecture, engendering compelling experiences that go further than traditional dance performances.

Striking works by Vandewalle include Birdwatching 4x4, a performance that transforms the open space in a real-time cinematographic film, causing the audience’s perception of the dancers and their surroundings to change. There is also Studio Cité, a project that remodels public spaces into places of artistic interaction. Vandewalle has also been involved in various educational initiatives, in which he gives workshops and guides young artists.
