Bart Patoor obtained a university degree in Dutch-English from the University of Antwerp, and a degree in acting from the Borgerhout Drama Academy. He began his professional career as an actor, director and drama teacher. He was active in the theatre in both Belgium and France, where he lived from 1985 to 1995. In 1997 he became a teacher of Dutch, Theatre and Aesthetics at the Rudolf Steiner Secondary School in Lier, and later at Hibernia, the Rudolf Steiner Secondary School in Antwerp.

In 2006 Bart Patoor encountered Buddhism. Since then he has been an intense practitioner of Vipassana meditation. In 2010 he went to Nepal to meditate for 2 months at Sayadaw U Vivekananda’s Upandita International Meditation Centre.

Alongside this, Bart Patoor has for many years had an active interest in music, singing and vocalisation. He regularly organises open singing circles and leads the singing group Al Kantaar at Madam Fortuna arts workshop in Borgerhout. In recent years, he has completed courses in Sound Healing and Shamanic Vocalisation with Iris Pattyn, Brussels. In 2022 he led the Madam Fortuna City Choir for the opera De Bekeerlinge by Wim Henderickx.
